Coral Gardens: Earthwork is a large-scale, site-specific installation that brings the reef to the surface, translating underwater coral formations into a terrestrial landscape. Composed of sculptural mounds emerging from the earth, the work evokes the intricate growth patterns and interconnected structures of marine ecosystems.

Presented as part of Wishing Well, a three-month outdoor sculpture exhibition, the installation evolved through both intentional cultivation and natural processes. Seeds introduced to the site grew alongside vegetation that emerged through dispersal by birds and wind, gradually transforming the sculptural landscape.

As tall grasses flourished, partially obscuring and, in some areas, completely engulfing the coral-like formations, the artist returned periodically to shape and braid the vegetation, revealing and redefining the work as it evolved.

This ongoing exchange between artistic intervention and spontaneous growth transformed the landscape into both collaborator and material. Through cycles of emergence, concealment, and transformation, Coral Gardens: Earthworkexplores the fluid boundaries between land and sea, cultivation and wilderness, and the relationship between human care and ecological processes.
